My original CitySphere prints were built upon imaginations, adopting a variety of architectural styles, but never entire landmarks. This ambiguity was something I loved, and it steered me away from creating prints based on famous world cities, despite suggestions from others. However, I was persuaded by a commission from a great client to see what would happen if London were to become a CitySphere. I wondered how such a famous skyline could be interpreted differently, and how it could stand out against the backdrop of so many London horizon artworks we’ve seen before.
The end result, ‘City of London’ has shaken up London like a snowglobe, with all of the famous landmarks we know and love scattered within, rather than towering above. It captures the essence of a dignified London, and is a gift not just for tourists, but natives too. A cherished collectable, rather than a tacky souvenir.
